Welcome! Whether or not you are military, and whether or not you have swum before, our team has a place for you!

This site is full of information, so if you have limited time, just make sure you read "About MAV" and "This Season."  Information about equipment and clothing items can be found at the "Team Items" link under "Categories."  Posts appear from newest to oldest right underneath this one.  We make announcements at practice, but other than there, this site is our primary means of communication.

See you at the pool!

Practice Monday Jul 21.

No practice Monday MORNING.  I'll see everyone Monday afternoon.  Matt is first alternate so we are going to wait it out.

Sunscreen ratings

Many of you may have seen recent headlines criticizing the performance of many common sunscreens.  As a "burn-in-twenty-minutes" sort of person, I thought I'd share the article (link here), and reprint the list of recommended brands.  We can all look for these locally - feel free to list in the comments where you have found them!  ~mrs. coach.

MAV swimmers are HOT at the PNY Sprint Meet

It was hot on the deck, and we had some hot swimmers in the pool.  Our younger swimmers had a boost in numbers by five new swimmers that provided us with enough swimmers to compete in the 9-10 and 8-under girls relays.  Swimming in their first meet for Maverick were Kiona Edwards, Haley Miller, Maggie Sudduth, Skyler and Alessia Miller:

Sprint Meet 018

Skyler Miller won highpoint for the 8-under girls!

Sprint Meet 023

Jared Sluss was High point runner up for the 11-12 boys.

Sprint Meet 025

Josh Williams won High point for the 15-16 boys.

Sprint Meet Sunday 30

Matt Schade won High point runner up for the 17-over boys. (picture will be inserted soon)

Coach Dan was runner-up in the belly-flop contest.

Sprint Meet Sunday 12       Sprint Meet Sunday 13          Sprint Meet Sunday 14

Coach Dan also made use of a long rain delay on Saturday afternoon to run a dryland clinic for several teams at once.  Everyone had a great time at this great meet!

As usual, Maverick swimmers shine at ATAC

Matt Schade, Josh Williams, Chrissy and Teresa Parsons, Lexi Birmingham, and Coach Dan competed at this year's summer ATAC meet.  Everyone, with the exception of the old man, did very well as expected.  Out of 49 swims, 25 made the finals.  Out of those 25 swims in the finals, 22 went faster than in the morning swims.  21 swims overall were best times, some improving on shaved and taper times from previous championship meets, and 12 swims were within tenths of a second of being best times.  Josh and Chrissy led the way with outstanding finals performances each night that inspired the rest of us to try to match.  Teamwork and the tradition of being tough in the finals made this meet a great meet to attend, as always!  Congratulations Maverick swimmers!

Mavericks at Waterworld Classic

Maverick Swimmers Ashley, Jared, and Andrew Sluss had a successful meet at the Dothan Water World Classic.

TEAM MEET IN JULY!

Folks, we have finally found a meet in July for the whole team.  This is a one day meet in Pensacola on Saturday July 12.  It is a lot of fun and a great way for our new swimmers to get started, as well as our SES swimmers to work on speed before we go to Nashville.  I would highly recommend this meet to everyone!  Parents can swim too (as long as we have everyone covered with insurance, which means USA swim registration).  The last three times we were at this meet Coach Tonya won the fastest woman contest and Coach Dan won the belly flop contest (well, maybe 2 out of 3!).  Let's go as a team and have some fun!  If you wish to enter, please let me know via email or in a written note at the pool.  The meetd information is here.  Download 200820sprint20invite1.doc

ECS pics now online

ECS RibbonsTeeth Hi there - Mrs. Coach here, taking over blogging duty.  I'm still getting used to it, so there's a bit of a backlog that I'll be posting.  If you see me on deck, remind me to use my camera!

I've added some photos of awards that the Big Kids earned at ECS earlier this month.  I'm very proud of them and their "tasty ribbons"!  Find those photos in the 2008 Photo Album.

I've also started a new Photo Album: It's called The Trophy Case.  Coach Dan and I have put all the older team trophies (and some of his!) up there...you can add yours too!  Send us pictures and I'll add them.
