ECS Swim Meet

We had an excellent meet.  In fact, there were comments from other teams that they should start dryland training to try to match our success!  We have had some great dryland training that is increasing our strength, balance, and flexibility, but as we know, it is a combination of hard work, overcoming obstacles, swimming, technique expertise, and dryland that gets us to the top.  Let's keep up the good work.

We earned 3rd overall team high point - quite a feat with our small numbers!  We only had 12 swimmers, so this is a testament as to how well we did.

Every morning swimmer earned lifetime best times due to an improvement in stroke technique.  We are pround of them for demonstrating streamlines, cleaner lines, stretching out, and flip turns.  I especially want to mention Megan Yourkavitch's ability to make instant corrections from verbal instructions without practice, and Ashley Sluss' significantly smoother strokes.  Good job to Kathleen McGovern for streamlining - doing 19 good streamlines out of 20 in her 500 free.  Jared and Andrew Sluss impressed us with their technique that emerged with the concentration they had during racing.  Maria McGovern, only 6, showed discipline with her breathing pattern throughout her races.  Travis Osier showed he is learning to race; he negative split his 200 free and ended up dropping 22 seconds!

Congratulations to Josh Williams for a new meet record, to Jared and Andrew Sluss for new team records, and to the high point winners:  Teresa Parsons, Josh Williams, Matt Schade, Chrissy Parsons, Tonya Rasor.
